Most parents complain that children never listen; but from a kid’s viewpoint, they don’t do it because it’s no fun. Most of the time, they have to listen to complaints, reminders and nagging. Here are fun science experiments for kids that will not only train your kids to keep their ears open but also help them learn more about this important body part.

Blindfold your child and sit with him/her in a quiet room. Then call out to your child from different parts of the room and ask him/her to determine where the sound came from. You can try this with both ears open or with one of them covered by one hand. Note how well your child finds your location and give rewards when the correct answer is given.

Sound waves travel in a straight line until it bounces off a surface that conducts sound. In an empty room, your voice can bounce off the walls, making it difficult for your child to find you, especially if one ear is covered. With this exercise, your child can develop an acute sense of hearing as well as learn how sound waves work.
